Philadelphia Art Museum adds Pay What You Wish Friday nights for ‘Dreamworld’

Philadelphia Art Museum Spreads Surrealism to All with 'Pay What You Wish' Fridays for 'Dreamworld'

In an effort to make one of its most anticipated exhibitions more accessible, the Philadelphia Art Museum has announced a unique twist on its Pay What You Wish program. For the final three Fridays of "Dreamworld: Surrealism at 100," visitors will be able to experience the highly acclaimed show without worrying about admission fees after 5 pm.

The museum's Friday Nights atmosphere, typically reserved for ticketed events, will also kick in, featuring live music by resident DJ yōsukeDj, light bites, and a surreal-themed cocktail. However, capacity is limited, with last entry at 8:15 pm, so visitors are advised to arrive early.

What sets these Pay What You Wish Fridays apart from previous events is the inclusion of a major special exhibition - "Dreamworld." This marks the first time a significant show has been made available under the program's flexible admission policy.

A couple of the dates add an extra layer of programming: on February 6, the Philadelphia Ballet will be performing "Connection," a short work exploring physical and emotional connections. The final night, February 13, coincides with the museum's Black History Month celebration, featuring live music, pop-up art experiences, and community partners on site.

"Dreamworld" itself has garnered national attention for its in-depth exploration of surrealism over more than a century. By offering Pay What You Wish Fridays, the Philadelphia Art Museum aims to make this captivating exhibition accessible to an even broader audience.

The events take place at the museum's main location: 2600 Benjamin Franklin Parkway, Philadelphia, PA 19130, on January 30, February 6, and February 13 after 5 pm.

🤩 I'm loving this idea of making surrealism more accessible to everyone! 🌌 Pay What You Wish Fridays for 'Dreamworld' is a genius move by the Philadelphia Art Museum. It's not every day you see an art museum offering free admission, especially during peak hours. The addition of live music, light bites, and a DJ will definitely set the mood right. I'm also stoked to see community partners on site for the Black History Month celebration – it's great that they're using this platform to promote inclusivity 🎉. If you can swing by after 5 pm, it'll be totally worth it! 💫

🌱 I'm totally stoked about this new initiative by the Philadelphia Art Museum! Making 'Dreamworld' more accessible to people of all income levels is a huge step towards promoting inclusivity and creativity 🎨. It's so cool that they're hosting DJ nights, live music, and themed cocktails - it's gonna be such a vibe! 😎 But what I love most about this idea is that it's not just about art, it's about community too 🤝. By partnering with local organizations and celebrating Black History Month, the museum is showing that art can bring people together in the most meaningful ways 💖. Let's keep spreading positivity and good vibes through creativity and inclusivity! 🌈💫

🎨 I think it's super cool that the Philly Art Museum is making "Dreamworld" more accessible to everyone. Paying what you wish is already a great idea, but adding Fridays with live music, food, and DJ vibes is gonna take it to a whole new level 🎶. I'm definitely gonna try to make it out there on one of those nights 🕰️. The ballet performance sounds amazing too - who doesn't love dance? 🤩

I'M SO EXCITED ABOUT THIS NEW PAY WHAT YOU WISH FRIDAY THING AT THE PHILADELPHIA ART MUSEUM!!! 🤩 IT'S SUCH A GREAT IDEA TO MAKE "DREAMWORLD" MORE ACCESSIBLE TO PEOPLE WHO CAN'T AFFORD TICKETS. I MEAN, WHY SHOULD SOMEONE HAVE TO MISS OUT ON AN AMAZING EXHIBITION JUST BECAUSE THEY DON'T WANT TO SPEND MONEY?! 🤑 LETTING PEOPLE PAY WHAT THEY WISH IS LIKE, THE BEST WAY TO SHOW ART IS FOR EVERYONE! 💖 AND THE FACT THAT THEY'RE ADDING LIVE MUSIC, FOOD, AND DRINKS MAKES IT SOUNDS LIKE A RIGHT OL' PARTY!!! 🎉 I HOPE IT'S NOT TOO CROWDED ON THOSE FRIDAYS AFTER 5 PM, BUT IF IT IS, AT LEAST THERE'S ALREADY SOMETHING GOING ON TO MAKE IT WORTHWHILE! 😊

I think its super cool that the Phila Art Museum is making 'Dreamworld' more accessible to everyone 🤩. Pay What You Wish Fridays for this show is a great idea - it encourages people to come in and experience art without worrying about prices. The fact that they're offering live music, DJ sets, and theming too, just adds to the vibe 🎶💫. I'd love to check out that ballet performance on Feb 6 tho - who knew art and dance could be so connected? 💃🏽. Limiting capacity to 8:15 pm does make me wonder if it'll get crowded, though...

Ugh, great, just what I need, more reasons to justify my already-existent art addiction... 🤣 The Philly Art Museum is finally making its dream exhibit (no pun intended) "Dreamworld" accessible for a few Pay What You Wish Fridays and I'm literally shaking with excitement 🎉. Like, yay free admission, but also, isn't the whole point of visiting an art museum supposed to be...you know...actually paying for it? 😜 And what's with the limited capacity? Sounds like they're trying to recreate that super fun, not-at-all-awkward feeling of being squished in a crowded bar with strangers 🍹. On a more serious note tho, I'm actually kinda stoked about this - surrealism is my jam and it'll be awesome to see so many amazing pieces without breaking the bank 💸. Bring on Feb 6th when the ballet comes!

I'm thoroughly intrigued by the Philadelphia Art Museum's innovative decision to make 'Dreamworld' accessible through their Pay What You Wish Fridays program 🤩. By doing so, they're not only fostering a sense of community but also encouraging an increased audience engagement with surrealism. It's fascinating to see how the museum is redefining its events strategy to cater to diverse interests and demographics.

While some might argue that making significant exhibitions available for free can impact fundraising efforts, I think this move could have a positive impact on art appreciation as a whole. By normalizing access to artistic experiences, we may witness a more inclusive and participatory art scene 🌈. The incorporation of additional programming, such as the Philadelphia Ballet's performance and live music, further adds to the event's appeal.

Overall, I believe this initiative is a step in the right direction for cultural institutions like the Philadelphia Art Museum to stay relevant and responsive to changing audience needs 💡.

I'm so down for this "Dreamworld" exhibit! 🤩 It's crazy that a museum is making an art show pay what you wish... like, that's literally the dream come true for me 😂. I mean, who doesn't love free or low-cost museums? Plus, it's awesome that they're including live music and food – sounds like a sick night out! 🎶🍴 But, omg, can you even imagine how crazy it'll get with limited capacity? Like, I'm gonna try to get there ASAP, but also don't wanna be that person who shows up at 8:15 and misses the last entry 😅. Maybe we should make a group outing from school – it'd be so much fun! 💖

So they're trying to make surrealism more mainstream by making it free for all, but is that really a democratization of art or just a way to shift the cost burden from visitors to taxpayers? I mean, think about it, if we're paying for our cultural experiences through taxes, do we have a say in what gets funded and what doesn't? And what about the value of art, does it really decrease when people can walk in off the street? It's like they're saying that the worth of a masterpiece is tied to its accessibility, not its quality or importance. 🤔

I'm so stoked about this! 🤩 It's awesome that the Philly Art Museum is making "Dreamworld" super accessible with Pay What You Wish Fridays. I mean, who doesn't want to experience surrealism without breaking the bank? 😊 The addition of live music, food, and a DJ sounds like an amazing vibe. And it's great that they're partnering with local organizations for Black History Month – it's all about community and inclusivity.

I think this is a game-changer for art museums in general. Why should people be turned away from something just because they can't afford it? 🤷‍♀️ The Pay What You Wish program is already pretty cool, but by making these special events more accessible, the museum is showing that art is for everyone. I'm definitely going to check out one of these events – who's with me? 👍

😊 I think its so cool that the Philly Art Museum is doing this! Pay What You Wish Fridays for a super hyped exhibition like "Dreamworld" 🤯 is just genius. Its going to bring in people from all walks of life, not just art lovers who are willing to shell out some cash. Plus, the addition of live music, light bites and that DJ yōsukeDj 🎶 is gonna make for an epic atmosphere! Im definitely trying to swing by one of these events, its gonna be such a vibe 😌

🤔 I'm telling you, this "Pay What You Wish" Friday thing is just a ploy to get people's info... think about it, they're offering free access to this super popular exhibition, but only for three Fridays, and then suddenly, it's all about the extra activities like live music and food. It's not just about making art more accessible, it's about gathering data on who comes in and what they buy... I mean, have you seen those "pay what you wish" ads on social media? It's all about promoting their new app... 📊

omg i love how they're making surrealism more accessible to everyone 🤯! it's so cool that the philly art museum is offering pay what you wish fridays for "dreamworld" - who doesn't want to experience a major exhibition without breaking the bank? 💸 and adding live music, food, and drinks to the mix makes it sound like an epic night out 🎉! i'm also curious about the different activities on each date... is there going to be a big crowd on feb 6 when the philly ballet is performing? will they have enough space for all the people who want to see "connection" in action? 🤔

omg 😍 i'm so down for this 🤩 pay what you wish is already a dope idea but making it even more surreal with live music & cocktails? ✨🎶 perfect combo! 🙌 i love that they're featuring local talent too, dj yōsukeDj sounds awesome 🎵 can't wait to see the connections between art & music 💫 and yay for black history month celebration 🕉️ it's all about inclusivity & accessibility 💖 gotta make surrealism accessible to everyone not just art enthusiasts 👍

I'm not sure how I feel about this 'Pay What You Wish' thing for "Dreamworld"... 🤔 It's cool that they're making the exhibition more accessible, but are we gonna see a flood of people just coz they don't have to pay? 😅 And what's with the limited capacity and early arrival rule? Can't we all just chill? I guess it's good that there's some other stuff going on during those Fridays, like the Philadelphia Ballet performance... that sounds kinda interesting. 💃 But overall, I'm still a bit skeptical about whether this whole 'Pay What You Wish' thing is just gonna become another fad 🤷‍♀️

I'm kinda stoked about the Philly Art Museum doing this "Pay What You Wish" thing on Fridays 🤩. I mean, who doesn't love art without a price tag? It's all about makin' it more inclusive for everyone, especially during special events like this one 🎨. But I do wonder if there'll be enough spots available for people who wanna check out the "Dreamworld" exhibit... last entry at 8:15 pm is pretty tight, so we should def plan ahead ⏰.

Life is what happens to you while you're busy making other plans 🌟💫. The idea of 'Pay What You Wish' Fridays for the Surrealism exhibition seems like a brilliant way to make art more inclusive and accessible – it's not just about the money, but also about creating an experience that people will remember 😊🎨. By partnering with local groups and performers, they're making it feel like a true community event 💕🌈.
