I think american psycho is still super relevant today
... but in a weird way its like we've gone full circle back to the 80s yuppie culture it was supposed to mock
. The whole "incel culture" thing is super concerning and bateman's character is more of a cautionary tale than an aspirational figure imo
. I also think it's crazy how bateman's smug face has become a meme, like we're literally laughing at the very same toxic masculinity he was trying to critique
. anyway, it's definitely worth revisiting the book and considering its commentary on modern society... maybe we can learn something from ellis's sharp satire
