Screening at Sundance: Gregg Araki’s ‘I Want Your Sex’

Gregg Araki's 'I Want Your Sex' Stirs Up Controversy at Sundance with Kinky Workplace Romp.

The provocative art magnate Erika Tracy, played by Olivia Wilde, turns the world of introverted college graduate Elliot around when he lands a job as her assistant. While not exactly a return to form, this feature marks Araki's first in a dozen years and is a welcome comeback.

Araki's unobtrusive approach to sex and relationships reminds one of his "Teenage Apocalypse" films from the 1990s. Cooper Hoffman gives a physically expressive performance as Elliot, who experiences an immediate sense of liberation after becoming Erika's sex slave. However, Araki takes the air out of this momentous self-discovery with moments that become cartoonish and feel like finger-wagging conversations.

Despite its clunky moments, 'I Want Your Sex' is a welcome departure from the self-imposed norms that might stifle sexual expression. Wilde delivers a marvelous performance as Erika, who hides pulsing anxieties in plain sight despite her sociopathic selfishness running deeper and darker than expected.

This film yields raucous and sexually charged entertainment seldom seen in Hollywood of late. The performances are fine-tuned, including Wilde's and Hoffman's, making it a tremendous amount of fun to watch.

lol @ the controversy around this movie 🤣 i mean come on, it's just a film about people being weird and having sex with each other... like, what's new? 😂 araki's definitely got that signature vibe going on from his teen apocalypse days, but i'm not sure if he's really evolved much since then. still, olivia wilde looks HOT as the sociopathic erika tracy 🤯 and cooper hoffman is actually pretty great too. it's cool that araki's making a comeback, but let's be real, this film isn't going to change anyone's mind about the importance of consent or anything 😜

just saw that gregg araki's new movie 'i want your sex' is getting a lot of buzz at sundance 🤔... think he's making a valid point about freeing up our minds from the norms around sex and relationships, especially with how stodgy hollywood can be 💁‍♀️. but some scenes did feel a bit over-the-top or preachy to me 🤷‍♂️... olivia wilde is amazing as erika though - she's got this dark energy that's super captivating 🔥. overall, sounds like it's gonna be a wild ride 🎥

omg i'm actually kinda excited about this new gregg araki movie lol i've heard he's been MIA from the film scene for ages so it's nice to see him back with something that sparks conversation 🤔👀 anyway, i love olivia wilde's acting style she always seems to bring this edgy vibe to her roles and cooper hoffman as elliot is kinda cute in a awkward way 😊 the parts where they get all steamy are def gonna be wild 🌪️ still not sure if it's gonna be my cup of tea tho, but i'll give it a shot 💖

im not sure about the whole 'welcome comeback' vibe...i mean dont get me wrong olivia wilde is straight fire as erika tracy but i think arakis style is getting kinda stale 🤔. its like he's still stuck in that 90s teen angst phase and i'm over it 😒. plus, cooper hoffman seems way too old for the role of elliot lol what happened to his career since pattinson? anyway, the sex scenes are def wild and entertaining tho 🍹💥

omg I'm so down for this one 🤩 "I Want Your Sex" is like the perfect antidote to all the bland rom-coms out there - it's edgy, it's sexy, and it's unapologetic 😏 Olivia Wilde as Erika Tracy is giving me LIFE, she's like the ultimate wild child 🌪️ and Cooper Hoffman's performance as Elliot is actually really captivating 🤯 I love how Araki pushes the boundaries of what's considered acceptable in mainstream cinema - it's about time someone brought some excitement back to the table 💥 And can we talk about that raunchy office scene? 😂

I'm not sure if I love the fact that 'I Want Your Sex' is giving off some 90s vibes, but at the same time, I think it's kinda refreshing to see someone pushing boundaries like Erika Tracy 🤪👀. Cooper Hoffman's performance as Elliot had me LOLing, but also feeling a bit uncomfortable, like he's trying too hard to be edgy 😳. Still, Olivia Wilde's character is seriously mesmerizing - she's got this whole dark energy thing going on that makes you wanna watch her from start to finish 🔥👑

i'm so down for this film, you know? it's like araki finally found his groove after that long hiatus 🤯. i loved how wilde brings this complex character erika to life, she's got this edge that's both captivating and terrifying at the same time 💁‍♀️. and cooper hoffman's performance is fire 🔥. what i love most about this film is its willingness to push boundaries and challenge our expectations of sex and relationships in a way that feels organic and not forced. it's like, araki's saying, "hey, let's talk about this stuff, but let's do it in a way that's real and messy, not sanitized and boring." 👏

love how araki is bringing back that 90s vibe with his sex-positive approach 🤘🎥 i mean, the guy's always been about pushing boundaries, but this film feels like a breath of fresh air in hollywood's current 'safe space' mess 🌪️ Olivia wilde as erika is giving me LIFE 💁‍♀️ she's so captivating and complex, i love how she brings depth to that character 😏 and cooper hoffman's performance is not bad either...although some of the lines do feel a bit cheesy 🤣 still can't wait to see more art like this from araki 👍

omg i just watched 'I Want Your Sex' at Sundance and i'm still reeling from the experience lol what a wild ride! i have to say, Olivia Wilde was AMAZING as Erika Tracy 🤯 she brings so much depth and complexity to this role that's both captivating and unsettling at the same time. Cooper Hoffman is great too, his physicality really adds to the tension in those scenes with Olivia 😳 anyway, i think what struck me most about this film was how unapologetically it takes on sex and relationships - it's not afraid to get a little messy and uncomfortable 💁‍♀️ which is kinda refreshing in today's Hollywood climate.

I had the craziest dream last night, I was at this super old arcade and I saw this giant screen playing an endless loop of Pac-Man 🎮, but then suddenly it transformed into this massive screen showing an actual video game tournament! I swear, my character was competing in some crazy Mario Kart racing event and I was on fire 🔥🏎️... anyway back to the movie, I love how Olivia Wilde's character is so unapologetically herself, she's like a modern-day Elizabeth Taylor 💁‍♀️. And can we talk about Cooper Hoffman's hair? 😂

I just saw the cutest video of a sloth taking its first steps outside its enclosure at the zoo 🐻🌴... and it got me thinking, have you ever noticed how some animals seem to be living their best lives despite being in captivity? Like, they're not even stressed or anything! It's like they've learned to appreciate the little things, you know? Anyway, back to Gregg Araki's new film... I'm still on the fence about it. I mean, I love a good provocative art piece, but some of those moments did feel a bit too "finger-wagging" for my taste 🤔👀

I'm intrigued by this movie, its theme of non-judgmental sex is refreshing. I mean, who doesn't want to see a more open conversation about sex in films? 🤔 But at the same time, some parts felt a bit cringy for me, like when it was trying too hard to make a point. Olivia Wilde's character Erika is super captivating, her performance was amazing! Cooper Hoffman as Elliot was pretty interesting too, I love how he conveyed his emotions on screen 🤷‍♂️

just saw the trailer for this araki flick and im lowkey excited 🤪 I mean its not like he was gone forever or anything but still first feature in a while so i guess thats something? ive always had a soft spot for his films from back in the day, especially teenage apocalypse. cooper hoffman seems like a fun guy to watch on screen too. the fact that olivia wilde is in it too is a major plus 🙌 gotta admit its not every day you see a film thats this unapologetically racy and entertaining

omg this movie is so wild 🤯 i mean i was low-key expecting it to be super scandalous but araki really toned it down and just went for the awkwardness instead? it's like he's poking fun at us for being prudes about sex lol. olivia wilde is actually a scene-stealer as erika, she has this whole thing going on that's both captivating and terrifying at the same time. cooper hoffman's character is kinda adorable in his own weird way too 🤗

Ugh, I'm so over these Sundance premieres that just try to shock value their way into our attention 🙄. Like, can't we get some substance with our sex scenes? 'I Want Your Sex' thinks it's all cool because Olivia Wilde gets to play a kinda sociopathic boss, but honestly, her character feels like a stereotype rather than a fully fleshed out person 🤷‍♀️. And Cooper Hoffman's physicality is the only thing that saves this film from being a total mess. But still, I'd rather watch some actual substance than just some raunchy, shallow entertainment 😒.

omg i'm totally with araki on this one 🤯 he's always been super ahead of his time, but it's wild how some ppl still have issues w/ sexy stuff in movies lol i mean who doesnt love a good romp? 🍄 and omg cooper hoffman as elliot is everything 😂 i need to see more of him! elsa raphael, the costume designer, did an amazing job too - that sex slave scene was EVERYTHING 💅🔥 and wilde's performance as erika?? perfection 👯‍♀️ anyway, araki's back in a big way and i'm SO here for it 😊

OMG 🤯 I just watched this film at Sundance and I'm still reeling from the experience 😲! Gregg Araki's comeback is definitely not what you'd expect - it's provocative, naughty, and totally wild 😂. Olivia Wilde as Erika Tracy is absolutely incredible, her performance is so mesmerizing and complex 🤩. The way Cooper Hoffman brings Elliot to life is also super impressive 👏.

I love how the film takes on themes of sex and relationships in a way that feels really raw and honest 💯. It's not afraid to push boundaries and take risks, which is kinda refreshing in Hollywood right now 🎥. Sure, there are some clunky moments, but for me, the positives totally outweigh the negatives 😊. Overall, it's a wild ride that's definitely not for everyone, but if you're feeling adventurous, I'd def give it a shot 🔥

OMG, I'm so here for this movie!!! 🎥💁‍♀️ I mean, who doesn't love a good kinky workplace romp? But seriously, Gregg Araki's back and he's bringing the heat! 💫 Erika Tracy is literally the queen of sass and Olivia Wilde absolutely nails her role. And Cooper Hoffman as Elliot... *swoon* 😍 He's got some serious moves in that film. I love how the movie isn't afraid to get weird and wild, it's like a breath of fresh air in Hollywood right now! 🌪️ Can't wait to see more from Araki, he's definitely back on track after a little hiatus. 😊

lol what's the deal with this flick tho? i mean idk if araki is trying to stir up controversy but honestly its kinda hit or miss 4 me - on one hand eliot's transformation from introvert to sex slave sounds like some crazy liberation vibes but then it feels all cartoonish and awkward lol cooper hoffman gives a dope performance tho! olivia wilde as erika is straight fire btw she brings this dark energy to her character that's both mesmerizing & kinda unsettling at the same time 🤯 i think its great that araki is trying to push boundaries but like, maybe tone it down a notch? still enjoyed it tho 😏
